ICFJ Announces 2008 Knight International Journalism Award Winners at WAN/WEF Conference in Sweden

JUNE 3, Göteborg, Sweden - ICFJ President Joyce Barnathan announced Belarus’ Pioneering Editor and Ugandan Human Rights Reporter as the 2008 Knight International Journalism Award Winners during the 61st World Newspaper Congress, 15th World Editors Forum.

ICFJ was in Sweden leading a conference for 50 top journalism-training organizations worldwide. The conference covered three main topics: mentoring, financial sustainability and digital innovation. The conference was sponsored by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

 

The June 3 reception included more than 110 WAN/WEF attendees including former ICFJ trainers and fellows.

 

Each year, ICFJ's Knight International Journalism Fellowships Program presents two awards to outstanding media professionals who have taken bold steps to keep citizens informed despite great obstacles. Recipients of the Knight International Journalism Award epitomize the journalistic ideals fostered by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the International Center for Journalists.
